Coal briquettes is among the newly innovated alternative energy sources produced as small blocks of compressed coal dust by adding other additives like saw dust, clay, molasses etc. These briquettes serve as an efficient and cost-effective fuel source, replacing traditional environmental unfriendly energy sources like (firewood, charcoal) in various applications.
Jitegemee Holdings Company Ltd has established a coal briquette plant which its production activities are taking place in Ruvuma region, Mbinga district near the Jitegemee coal mine, with capacity of producing not less than 5 metric tons per hour while sales activities are taking place in Songea town at Seedfarm street, 6km from Songea town.
Coal briquettes
This factory produces and sell carbonized coal briquettes of two main categories, i.e sphere-shaped and block/rectangle coal briquettes.
The coal briquettes are mainly used for domestic heating and cooking whereas their easy ignition and steady burn make them suitable for stoves and fireplaces; also, industries requiring large amounts of heat, such as brick kilns and metal foundries, utilize coal briquettes in their boilers. The consistent heat output of briquettes ensures optimal performance and energy efficiency. The advantages side of coal briquettes are:
- Key Features:
- Smokeless: The coal briquettes burn without much smoke during ignition and burning.
- Low ash content: Minimum residual ash formed is less than 5% of the original weight of the charcoal.
- Odourless: Contains minimum evaporative substances thus eliminating the possibility of odour.
- Sparkless: No sparks are produced like wood charcoal.
- Less crack & better strength: Helps burn for a longer time (4 to 5 hours).
